Oldest airship Base!


The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company's Wingfoot Lake Airship Base, sometimes called "The Kitty Hawk of Lighter-Than-Air," is the oldest airship base in the United States.Goodyear entered the fledgling aviation industry when it established its Aeronautics Department in 1910 to market rubber impregnated fabrics and coatings for airplanes and lighter-than-air craft. Goodyear built its first balloon in 1912 and the next year began a long history of building and flying balloons in national and international competition.In 1916, Goodyear bought 720 acres of land southeast of Akron to serve as a flying field and manufacturing site. It included Fritch's Lake which provided water power for a grist mill and a water reserve for factories several miles downstream. Situated on the property was one of the original homes in Portage County, a log cabin built in 1845 by Abraham Himebaugh. The facility and the lake itself took on a new identity from Goodyear's winged foot corporate emblem.

IPL 3 Brand Update: Graphiti Board Campaign by Linc Pen

Linc Pen, an associate sponsor for the Rajasthan Royals has launched its Graffiti Board Campaign.
 
The Graphiti Board Campaign will be conducted mainly in Ahmedabad and Jaipur where the graffiti boards will be placed within the stadium and both fans and the players can interact via writing on the board.

Bollywood: The comic book

SRK, Rani and Ash will be charming their audience through a new medium. Namely, a comic book. Titled Bollywood, the comic is being created by Illustrated Orchids, based in Singapore. Bollywood is a comic book series that has the cartoon look alike of Bollywood biggies and format will be similar to Amar Chitra Katha and Superman.

The attempt is being made to revive Indian characters that have a great demand in a market flooded with foreign characters. First two comic books - Bollywood and Santa Banta and Trendy will be released over in the Indian markets in the first week of April

HISTORY OF BLOGGER


As we all know, Blogger.com was a brain child of Evans Williams . A little historical and motivational account about him follows:
Evans Williams is entrepreneurial by nature. He didn't take up a fixed job any time in his life. Even dropped out of Google in 2004 to start his podcasting company odeo, when Google had bought out his Pyra labs in 2003. At Pyra labs the initial idea was to build up a project management software but as time passed it ended up with blogger.
The whole story of Pyra Labs and blogger is a one man's fight for his destiny and his only weapon being his optimism and a motivation subconsciously, to not quit this time in the middle as he had done many times earlier.
Blogger started in times when there was a boom in internet, but soon the boom turned bust and by that time it had many registered users and thus the it was becoming continually difficult to ensure best services to the increasing consumer base. At this time the users themselves contributed in bits and pieces to keep their blogs afloat. When later blogger had 1 million registered users it caught the attention of Google which carried out its first acquisition of Pyra Labs!

Bisleri's mountain water brand is now Vedica

The legal battle between the Tatas and Bisleri over the registered Himalayan trademark has led to the latter changing the name of its mountain water brand.

Bisleri Mountain Water brand from the Himalayas is now being sold as Vedica Mountain Water from the Himalayas. Priced at Rs 20 for 500 ml pack, Vedica would be positioned as a premium brand with medical values. The water is being sourced from a spring in Uttarakhand.

Ranbir ready with Pepsi's Game


Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor will be seen in a new avatar for Pepsi's new commercial, contrary to his usual look. Ranbir, who recently replaced superstar Shah Rukh Khan as the brand ambassador of Pepsi, is ready with "The Game", an upcoming TV concept from Pepsi.
Taking his youngistaan image a little forward, Ranbir has tried to look funky for the ad, which is based on 'The Game' theme.The messy and carefree look is complemented with a stubble and a mop of hair falling on his forehead.

Brand Update: Idea

Taking its 'Use Mobile, Save Paper' campaign further, Idea Cellular has partnered with the two leading coffee chains – Barista and CafĂ© Coffee Day – to spread awareness about its 'Go Green' campaign through a unique mobile application that will allow people to download the menu card and bill on their mobile phones. This will eliminate the need for paper-based menu and bill in that particular transaction.

Brand Update: Sach Toothpaste from Future Group


Future Group forayed into the toothpaste category with its private label, the 'Sach' brand., which they launched in 2009. The name "Sach" is inspired by the Sachin Tendulkar, who is also a director in the group's subsidiary -- Future Consumer Products is also the co-creator of the toothpastes range. FCPL has two brands under its umbrella - Sach and S Drive.
