Peru Brands Itself

Peru officially launched a brand for the country, by stringing its new logo across the front entrance of the New York Stock Exchange. Gone are the old logo and slogan, “Land of the Incas.” In its place is a new identity developed by the British firm, FutureBrand, which also created Australia’s country brand in 2003.


The adoption of the spiral letter “P” wordmark represents the country’s bold move toward raising its identity internationally, not just as a tourist destination, but as the source of a broad line of export goods.

“The brand is not just a decoration; it’s a tool,” says Isabella Falco, director of PromPeru, short for Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Board. The hope is that the logo will be used on labels and tags on Peru’s exported goods to raise global consciousness of just how many products hail from that Latin American nation. According to Jose Luis Silva, president of Peru’s exporters association, ADEX, “3,000 Peruvian products or more are on the tables of consumers throughout the world. We need to put the brand on all these products.”

Levi's Takes Watery Mission To Facebook

Levi's which has already generated plenty of buzz with its Levi's Water20 by pledging to wash jeans less, take shorter showers and adopt better laundry habits.


Now, Levi's says it will donate $250,000 to Water.org through this initiative, which will provide at least 200 million liters of water to communities in need.
Prizes for the game, which runs through April, include free jeans, as well as a shot at a trip to a community receiving access to clean water from Water.org, so the winners can "experience firsthand the excitement and joy of community members as their lives are forever changed."

Water.org, founded by actor Matt Damon and environmentalist Gary White, says one in eight people lack access to safe water, 2.5 billion don't have a toilet, and four million people die each year from preventable, waterborne diseases.

Brand Ambassador - Sonakshi Sinha : Provogue

Provogue India has signed in Bollywood's newest actress Sonakshi Sinha as its brand ambassador.
The brand also has Hrithik Roshan as their brand ambassador for the last two years.



Previously Provogue has had brand ambassadors like Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Fardeen Khan, Katrina Kaif and Esha Deol.

Sharman Joshi to endorse 7UP in place of FIDO DIDO

Bollywood actor Sharman Joshi has replaced the cartoon character of Fido Dido as the face of PepsiCo's aerated drink 7UP.Sharman has been signed up for two years, and according to news sources he has been paid Rs.5 crore for the endorsement deal.

The campaign for the drink, 'Gussa Hatao, Chill Machao', involves two television commercials and will focus on simple issues of anger management.

Sharman said he was excited about the commercials, which will be aired by the end of March.

Facebook Buys Snaptu for an Estimated $60 – $70 Million


Facebook has acquired Snaptu for an estimated $60 - $70 million, although some reports peg the price lower, at around $40 million. Snaptu provides a solution for developing, deploying and maintaining online services, particularly on mobile phones. Just a few months ago, Facebook partnered with the company to launch a rich application specifically for feature phones.

Google remakes Chrome logo, removes shine

Google has updated its logo for the Chrome browser, removing the "shine" and going minimalist on the design.


The remade logo follows Google's decision to remake the Chromium design last week. Chromium is the open-source foundation behind the browser.
