Trivia Post: Statue of Liberty’s Nose Up for Auction

The Statue of Liberty’s nose could be yours. New York’s Guernsey’s auction house said that a chunk of copper intended to create part of the Statue of Liberty’s nose during a 1980s restoration effort will be auctioned off next month. Guernsey's auction house President Arlan Ettinger says the casting of Lady Liberty's nose is one of four that was made during a restoration effort in the 1980s. One of the four was used on the statue, one was destroyed, and another is in a private collection.
The piece consists of the tip and the area around the nostril.
