Brand identity eludes Lokta Paper at home
Lokta paper — an internationally registered brand as Nepal Lokta — lacks its identity at home.
Nepal Lokta is a registered brand in the European Union for quality control since 2008, however, not yet been registered in the domestic market.
Lack of trade mark registration in the domestic market has become a major threat to Nepali handmade paper.
The association has started the process of registering the brand ‘Nepal Lokta’ as Nepali handmade paper is facing price competition with similar products from China, India and Thailand recently.
But it is one of the key products that has potential to alleviate poverty in the remote hilly districts. “More rural women from the remote districts are involved in the Lokta production,” the association said, adding that government could exploit the product for the benefit of the rural masses.
Trivia:-
Nepali handmade paper is a unique product made from Lokta. It is strong and durable and has inherent natural resistance to worms and insects. The raw paper is produced in more than 22 districts but the finished product of Lokta can be produced in Kathmandu Valley and Janakpur only.

A milestone for Angry Birds
The platform game Rovio Mobile, Angry Birds, has become the most successful mobile game in history after reaching the 100 million downloads. The founder and CEO of Rovio, Peter Vesterbacka, believes that traditional consoles will eventually disappear to be replaced by another type of mobile entertainment and social.
Bytes:-
While most of its success can be pinned to strong gameplay and its fun theme, Rovio has worked harder to continue to introduce new Angry Birds content. Halloween and Christmas versions of the game were released and a special Rio version is being planned for March as is a St. Patricks Day edition.
Trivia:-
Angry Birds is a puzzle video game developed by Finland-based Rovio Mobile in which players use a slingshot to launch birds at pigs stationed on or within various structures, with the intent of destroying all the pigs on the play-field. Inspired primarily by a sketch of stylized wingless birds, the game was first released for Apple's iOS in December 2009.

Twitter reveals some Birthday #numbers
It might be hard to imagine a time before Twitter, but several years ago, the micro-blogging site was just getting started. To celebrate the five-year anniversary of when his team started programming Twitter, co-founder Jack Dorsey will be tweeting over the next two weeks about Twitter's origins.
On March 13, 2006, the Twitter implementation started; eight days later, the first tweet went live. "Inviting coworkers," Dorsey tweeted on March 21.
"The team was small: @Noah came up with the name & managed, @florian & I programmed, @Biz designed, all under the roof of Odeo & @Ev," Dorsey wrote
GROWING AT RECORD SPEEDS. What does it mean? Since the first tweet was made by Jack Dorsey on March 21, 2006, it took 3 years, 2 months and a day for the one billionth Tweet to be made on Twitter. And now, it merely takes a week’s time.
If that’s not growth, about 460,000 people signup on Twitter each day (February stats) and the service’s mobile usage has gone up nearly 2 fold since last year (182% to be exact). And again, for the record, 572,000 signed up for the service on March 12, 2011.
An average of 140 million Tweets were sent in February, up from 50 million sent per day in 2010. For the record, 177 million Tweets were send in March this year.
DID YOU KNOW? Michael Jackson death news spread like wild fire on Twitter in 2009 (June 25) when it first broke out. 456 Tweets sent per second (TPS) during that time was a record back then. Merely any match to the current TPS record of 6,939 Tweets Per Second sent on New Year’s Eve in Japan.
Apple Inc. Files For Apple Corps’ Old Apple Logo Trademark
The legal dispute between Apple Corps and Apple Inc. for the rights to the Apple logo are far reaching. Since the first case back in 1978, Apple Inc. has slowly whittled away at Apple Corp’s initial legal settlement banning Apple Inc. from entering the music industry. It wasn’t until a 2007 settlement when most of Apple Corps’ trademarks were given to Apple Inc.
In trademark disputes, gaining control over your opponent’s official logo is what is called a fatality. After twenty three years, it looks like the dispute between Apple Corps and Apple is over once and for all.
