Tata crucible’ is a hot trends

Without much marketing effort from Tata’s, the sheer involvement of quizzers around the country (and few outside the country), has put ‘tata crucible’ search at 77th position as on 4th August (i.e just one day after the 16 cities voyage started in Coimbatore)

Now, the question is can it broke into top 50 or beyond that…..

Nano Effect

Call it the Nano effect! The ultra-affordable “people’s car” might have launched India as a hotbed of ideas.

For instance, Godrej & Boyce is developing a Rs 2,500 refrigerator for Dharavi slum dwellers. Then Chennai-based Brakes India has found out a way to convert slag into construction material. Similarly, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of digital & analog offset plates, TechNova Imaging Systems, has invented a digital plate that can cut down the cost of commercial printing by almost 90%.

And, the list just doesn’t end there! Surinder Kapur, CMD of India’s largest manufacturer and supplier of steering systems, Sona Koyo Steering Systems, cites his own example. “We have managed to develop an indigenous steering system for off-highway vehicles for the US market at half the cost of what other international manufacturers quoted. We plan to use a similar approach to create an ultra-low cost steering system for the Nano as well.” Mr Kapur believes that innovation is contagious.

India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki’s latest ‘one component, one gram’ drive seems to have taken a leaf out of the same book. The $3.7-billion vehicle manufacturer, along with its suppliers, has worked out a strategy to reduce one gram of weight per each component of a car. The mission to subtract 2.6 kg from a car would translate into a minimum annual saving of Rs 10-crore for the company, and better performance and fuel efficiency for the customer who would be driving a lighter vehicle.

The World’s Worst Olympians

And…the honours goes to ….INDIA, well that’s what US’s foreign policies website is saying , to quote them:
Think of India as the Washington Nationals of Olympic sport. India is by far the worst-performing Olympic country—no matter how you slice it. It’s not for lack of trying. A games participant since 1900, India still ranks behind Nigeria, a country with an economy one twentieth India’s size, in total medals. The country’s athletic ineptitude is so profound that a parliamentarian called for two minutes of silence to “lament the demise of Indian sports” after the squad failed to win any medals in Barcelona in 1992.

Cuil, a new search engine

A start-up led by former star Google engineers unveiled a new Web search service that aims to outdo the Internet search leader in size, but faces an uphill battle changing Web surfing habits. Cuil Inc (pronounced "cool") is offering a new search service at its website that the company claims can index, faster and more cheaply, a far larger portion of the the Web than Google, which boasts the largest online index.
Cuil was founded by a group of search pioneers, including Costello, who built a prototype of Web Fountain, IBM's Web search analytics tool, and his wife, Anna Patterson, the architect of Google Inc's massive TeraGoogle index of Web pages। Patterson also designed the search system for global corporate document storage company Recall, a unit of Australia's Brambles Ltd. The two are joined by two former Google colleagues, Russell Power and Louis Monier. Previously, Monier led the redesign of ecommerce leader eBay Inc's search engine and was the founding chief technology officer of two 1990s Web milestones, AltaVista and BabelFish, the first language translation site.
***********************************************
Summary of Cuil's features:
1. Biggest Internet search engine: Cuil has indexed 1.20 billion Web pages, 3x more than any other search engine.
2. Organized results: Cuil's magazine-style layout separates results by subject and allows further search by concept or category.
3. Different results: Unlike other search engines, Cuil ranks results by the content on each page, not its popularity.
4. Complete privacy protection: Cuil does not keep any personally identifiable information on users or their search histories.
Cuil (pronounced COOL) is a search engine that combines the largest Web index with content-based relevance methods, organized results, and complete user privacy. The company's next generation approach to search is the result of proprietary breakthroughs in search architecture and ranking algorithms.

TATA Crucible’s Lucknow address

Ravindralaya,
Motilal Nehru Marg,
Rly Station Char Bagh ke Samne, “

I guess people with grey caps must have enquired about the address from some local fellow, who in order to explain in more avadhi style must have said “Char Bagh ke Samne”. But please don’t perplexed nawabi junta by asking them where is “Char Bagh ke Samne, “ (in case any non-hindi quizzer coming down to Lucknow), otherwise they will reply “Char Bagh ke Samne “ there is only one famous place “Dr. Jain ki Sex clinic. As this is how the so-called world famous sexologist DR. PK Jain advertises himself.

Anyway address is very simple to locate in case team coming down to luck-now wann ask, i guess TC team knows that there will be a lot of outsider team; hence they have chosen the closest place to Char-Bagh, four-garden (Lucknow’s Main Railway Station)
