Starwood Expands in India

Starwood Hotels and Resorts will open two new Four Points by Sheraton properties in the Indian cities of Pune and Visakhapatnam later this year.

Starwood has signed an agreement with D.I.H (Cyprus) Limited, an affiliate of Duet India Hotels Ltd, to manage two new-build Four Points by Sheraton properties in Pune and Visakhapatnam, both of which are due to open in October.

Starwood entered India with its Sheraton brand in Mumbai in the year 1973. Currently, the company has 26 hotels in India under the brands of Westin, Sheraton, Four Points by Sheraton, The Luxury Collection and Le Méridien.

Trivia: The internationally renowned Le Méridien brand was established in 1972 by Air France "to provide a home away from home for its customers." The first Le Méridien property was a 1,000-room hotel in Paris — Le Méridien Etoile
