Allen, who now runs a Seattle-based investment firm and philanthropic foundation, makes the claim in a forthcoming book of memoirs, excerpts from which were published in Vanity Fair magazine on Wednesday.

PepsiCo-owned Gatorade has rebranded as G in the UK as the brand moves toward a global identity.
The “world’s most researched sports drink” has retained the lightening bolt in its logo but shifted the focus more heavily on to an uppercase G, while the word Gatorade still features on the logo but in smaller type.
“The new G logo was designed to represent the heart, hustle, and soul of athleticism and we hope it will become a badge of pride for today’s athletes.”

ASSOCHAM's new Logo
Posted by Team Bizdom LoGo, News Monday, March 28, 2011The Mini story
Posted by Team Bizdom BiZDoM GyAaN, Ent trivia, TriViA Sunday, March 27, 2011First introduced in 1965, the miniskirt was part of a widespread wave of sexual openness and personal freedom that was sometimes called the sexual revolution. The short skirts that exposed four or more inches of a woman’s thigh were not only lighthearted but sexy. The skirts also represented a movement away from society’s restrictions on women’s freedom.
“Its length can vary, but always above the knee. True miniskirt should reveal at least mid-thigh.”
The first miniskirts to appear on Paris fashion runways were created by French fashion designer André Courrèges (1923–), who was tired of the old-fashioned designs and prim knee-length skirts that dominated the fashion of the early 1960s. At age 25 and after studying civil engineering, he moved to Paris where he meets his real passion, costumes, deciding to work in textile design company Geanne Lafaurie. Courrèges wanted to introduce a radical new look that would bring youth, freedom, and originality to the world of fashion, so he dressed his models in simple A-line dresses (flared bottom and close fitting top) that ended four inches above the knee. Flat-soled white boots completed the “mod” look. Though some critics were horrified by the new style, many others were charmed, and the miniskirt caught on quickly.
London designer Mary Quant shortened the skirt still further, and changed Courrèges’s flared skirt to a tight, body-hugging shape.
Mary opened her own boutique, "Bazaar" on Kings Road in 1955, and ushered in the "mod" and the "Chelsea Look".Mary was looking for new and interesting clothes for "Bazaar", but was not satisfied with the types of garments available and decided that the store would be supplied with clothes designed by herself. The result was the boots to the knee-high, white plastic, lace-up top, and narrow, ribbed sweaters, striped or with flashy pictures, which would embody the "London Look". These items along with fashion parades and showcases the latest, consolidated their reputation through the original garment, which was sold in stores accessible to the new youth-oriented market.
Although many women lacked the courage to wear the new minis, much less the even shorter microminis that followed, hemlines in general went up, and women’s fashions became bolder and freer than before, representing a change in women’s attitudes about themselves.
Anatomy app for medical students on the move
Posted by Team Bizdom BiZDoM GyAaN Sunday, March 27, 2011
Gone are the days when medical students had to share dusty, well-thumbed anatomy text books to swot up on diagrams and photographs of odd-looking pieces of lung or muscle tissue. Now, would-be doctors can be part of a virtual classroom thanks to a newly launched iPhone app developed by the University of Warwick.
Professor of Clinical Anatomy at Warwick Medical School, Peter Abrahams, has turned his teaching into bite-size anatomy classes which can be downloaded and used by medical students world-wide and not restricted to those lucky enough to attend his lectures.
The new app, entitled Aspects of Anatomy, provides 38 short teaching videos using real, plastinated prosections of the lungs, thorax and the arm, from shoulder to hand. You can watch how the professor teaches and demonstrates the function of nerves, tiny twig-like bronchioles or heart valves which very effectively bring medical theory to life. Students can even check progress on their learning by completing the short spot check tests also part of the app.

Posted by Team Bizdom Brand Update Friday, March 25, 2011Biz History: Harvey Nichols
Posted by Team Bizdom BiZ-Origin Friday, March 25, 2011Harvey Nichols, founded in 1813, is an upmarket department store chain. Its original store is in London. Founded in 1813 as a linen shop, it offers many of the world's most prestigious brands in womenswear, menswear, accessories, beauty and food. Harvey Nichols attracts more younger shoppers than its rival Harrods.
In 1813 Benjamin Harvey opened a linen shop in a terraced house on the corner of Knightsbridge and Sloane Street in London. Benjamin Harvey bequeathed his business to his daughter Elizabeth in 1820, on the condition that the business’s present silk buyer, Colonel Nichols, was taken on as a partner. This partnership gradually widened the store’s stock to include Oriental textiles and furnishings; Harvey Nichols’ carpets were particularly in demand.
The business flourished in this newly fashionable location, near the original Crystal Palace, which housed the Great Exhibition in 1851. The present splendid premises were opened in the 1880s and extended in 1932. In 1914 a Harvey Nichols advertisement in the Times boasted that their tailor-made suits and mantles are made under the supervision of an expert Viennese cutter and fitter. Perfect style and fit guaranteed.’ But like several other venerable luxury stores in west London, supply difficulties hit their profits during WWI and they merged with Debenhams Ltd. (q.v.) in 1919.
Harvey Nichols retained its unique and exclusive character, which has been exploited and amplified by new owners since 1991. They were listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1996 and large premises, their first regional branches, were opened in Leeds and Edinburgh in 1996 and 2002 respectively. From its own-label tailoring to high-end designer concessions of all varieties, Harvey Nichols has maintained its reputation as purveyor of luxury goods and garments to moneyed gentlefolk (both established and aspiring) everywhere for well over a hundred years.

Posted by Team Bizdom News Friday, March 25, 2011
Since Yahoo surrendered its search engine to Microsoft two years ago as part of a major overhaul of its business, it has been trying to innovate on top of Microsoft’s technology to keep people coming to its site.
The latest effort was announced Wednesday when Yahoo introduced a refinement that gives users answers to their questions without having to click on the search results. Search Direct, as the product is called, provides weather forecasts, celebrity biographies and news reports before users finish typing the question.
If it sounds familiar, that is because it is Yahoo’s response to Google Instant, which automatically pulls up search results as people type their queries. Yahoo’s version goes a little bit further by presenting edited information and images just under the search box instead of a page full of links.
Shashi Seth, senior vice president for Yahoo’s search and marketplaces, said that the new service helped users find what they were seeking much faster because they did not have to click away from the search page. “People are looking for answers, they’re not looking for links,” he said.

Peru officially launched a brand for the country, by stringing its new logo across the front entrance of the New York Stock Exchange. Gone are the old logo and slogan, “Land of the Incas.” In its place is a new identity developed by the British firm, FutureBrand, which also created Australia’s country brand in 2003.
The adoption of the spiral letter “P” wordmark represents the country’s bold move toward raising its identity internationally, not just as a tourist destination, but as the source of a broad line of export goods.
“The brand is not just a decoration; it’s a tool,” says Isabella Falco, director of PromPeru, short for Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Board. The hope is that the logo will be used on labels and tags on Peru’s exported goods to raise global consciousness of just how many products hail from that Latin American nation. According to Jose Luis Silva, president of Peru’s exporters association, ADEX, “3,000 Peruvian products or more are on the tables of consumers throughout the world. We need to put the brand on all these products.”

The Million Dollar dog
Posted by Team Bizdom News Monday, March 21, 2011A Red Tibetan Mastiff has reportedly become the world's most expensive dog, after a coal baron from China bought the canine for one million pounds.
According to breeder Lu Liang, Big Splash is a perfect specimen and the extravagant price for the dog is "completely justified".
He said "We have spent a lot of money raising this dog, and we have the salaries of plenty of staff to pay" – adding that the new owner could charge 10,000 pounds a time for Big Splash to breed with a female.
Adult Tibetan mastiffs have been known to weigh as much as 286 pounds -- the same as a sizeable rugby player.
Tibetan mastiffs are thought to be holy animals, blessing their owners' health and security. Tibetans believe the dogs have the souls of monks and nuns who were not good enough to be reincarnated as humans or into heavenly realm.

The company will not further develop the handheld device and will instead focus on integrating its Zune software into future versions of its Xbox console and Windows 7, according to a Bloomberg report.
The decision effectively ends Microsoft's bid to challenge the supremacy of the iPod, which revolutionised the portable music market in 2001.
The devices, which have a small but devoted fan base, play music and video downloaded via the Zune Marketplace, Microsoft's answer to Apple's iTunes.

Posted by Team Bizdom SexY TiDBiT, TriViA Saturday, March 19, 2011Victoria’s Secret launched two new products named ‘Incredible’. The first one is ‘Incredible’ Bra and the Second one is also named as ‘Incredible’ Scent which was inspired by the brassiere. This ‘Incredible’ Scent will surely attract women as well as men, as this must be a first fragrance inspired by a bra.
The collection features two new styles–the Front-Close Push-Up and Front-Close Multi-way, that we were invited to test drive. We ended up walking away with the Front Close Push-up, that, at the risk of sounding corny, truly is kind of incredible. It’s super comfortable without being frumpy. The bra is racer back with self-adjusting straps so we’ll never again have to worry about looking tacky in tank tops with exposed loose straps hanging off of our shoulder.

To do or not to do
Posted by Team Bizdom News Saturday, March 19, 2011Yesterday we send an email form to few of our readers to gauge the market for a paid service from Bizdom. We received a good response from 50 odd people, however the result is pretty mixed (it has been that way only within our team also) , as some 52 % of quizzers are OK with a paid service we still are bit confused about this proposed endeavor.
So we decided to post this on our blog to make it more public at one end and also get to know who are willing to pay us by giving their details. Another reason for asking this detail (which is just a email id) is because many of the respondent need a sample from us. Even after putting one of the biggest collection of questions on the blog people still need samples, anyway we will try to make one sample set of 20 questions and then send it across to all the concerned people.
In case if you have missed the old survey form click here
And, if you have already done that and still oK with the idea of have a paid service click here
We still not sure about doing it right now, however we will surely do it if there is a sizable demand.
